Exclusive interview with Eve Harlow

February 12, 2016 | Eve Harlow plays Erica's daughter Taylor Kravid on "Heroes Reborn". Just like her mother Taylor works for Renautas and gets caught up in the conflict between humans and Evos. Eve Harlow also played a supporting role on the werewolf show "Bitten" and the role of Maya in the post apocalyptic The CW show "The 100". In our interview she talks about her work, her characters, her favorite books and how she got into acting.

1. How did you get into acting? Has it always been your dream to be an actor?

We do it as kids all the time, act, so how I got into it was I guess just being born...but more than that, being lucky enough to have an amazing, unspeakably wonderful human of a mother who encouraged me to do what I wanted to.

2. Your characters on "Bitten" and "Heroes Reborn" are both humans who are connected to extraordinary people. As an actress do you prefer to play a human character in a supernatural world or would you rather play someone who has powers resp. a supernatural creature?

I don't sway either way - regardless of whether they're human or supernatural, I like characters able to affect audiences who are watching. Though, I must confess: I'd be ecstatic to play either a vampire or a witch, seeing as I have a soft spot for both (I blame this on Anne Rice/Bram Stoker and JK Rowling).

3. "Heroes Reborn" ended with Taylor's mother Erica being all alone in the future. Do you think Taylor will at some point regret how the two of them parted?

I think it'll always be painful for Taylor, but I don't think there's going to be any regret. Erica was so obsessed with her desire to "save" the world, she was beyond being able to have an honest and healthy relationship with anyone, and Taylor recognized that.

4. If there had been a second season of "Heroes Reborn", how would you have liked Taylor's story to continue, esp. with her being human and having an Evo as a child?

In the perfect world: Evos and humans would reconcile, and Taylor would rebuild the self esteem and confidence that was totally stripped from her by Erica.

5. "Heroes Reborn" ended with a glimpse of hope that Evos and humans can in fact live together as one. Comparing this to our own world, what do you think is the most important lesson everyone has to learn and teach?

I think the lesson both in the fictional world of "Heroes Reborn" and in the real one is: set differences aside, because at the end of the day they're completely inconsequential. It might sound cheesy and simplistic, but I think that to start with, everyone would be a lot better off with a good dose of more sympathy, understanding and love; apathy is killing us all.

6. Can you share any funny stories from the set? What was it like to both be a part of a new "Heroes" cast and work with returning cast members like Jack Coleman and Masi Oka?

There really isn't a specific story, but every day on set with Jack and Henry I ended up laughing so hard that my stomach hurt; those two together might be the most hilarious combination of people I've ever encountered.

I can't say enough nice things about both the old and new cast - I think everyone involved was excited about the project, and so a good atmosphere both on and off set was inevitable; we did everything from bowl to play ping-pong to karaoke together.

7. Not every scene you shoot makes it to the final cut. Has there been a scene in "The 100" or "Heroes Reborn" you did that you loved but didn't make it?

Honestly? Not really!

8. Both of your characters - Maya on "The 100" and Taylor Kravid on "Heroes Reborn" - weren't willing to sacrifice other lives for their own good. Do you see other resemblances between these two characters?

I think the biggest resemblance is that over the arc of a season both of them go through the journey of finding a backbone they didn't realize they had. Taylor, this tough badass in heels, inherently seems like the polar opposite of Maya, but it's very much put on - at the base of it all there's still a desperate desire of approval from her mother. She's eventually able to rid herself of this by standing up to Erica. Maya goes down a similar path, but in a different manner; she's initially terrified, trying to make as little commotion and draw as little attention to herself as she can, but when that proves to be impossible, she rises to action.

9. On "The 100" Maya was an important part of the second season and you've probably spent some time on set with some of the cast. What will you miss most about working on that show?

The places and characters that Jason (Rothenberg) and his team build are incredibly intricate and individual, so definitely miss playing around in that post-apocalyptic world.

10. We read in an interview that one of your hobbies is reading. What's your favorite book and which one would you like to be made into a film or tv show? Is there a character that you would like to play yourself?

Ah, I hate this question, because I have so many... "The Little Prince", "The Master and Margarita", "Catcher in the Rye", "One Hundred Years of Solitude", "The Sound and the Fury", "Catch 22", "Clockwork Orange", "1984", "Kafka on the Shore", "Tender is the Night", "Picture of Dorian Gray", "Trainspotting", "A Visit from the Goon Squad"...I really can go on for a while.

But as for what character I'd like to play - even though I don't think either of these books would translate well into film - the female version of Holden Caulfield and Margarita (from "The Master and Margarita").

11. Do you have future projects you can talk about?

Not at the moment, no.

12. Would you tell us three things that are currently on you bucket list?

-Visit Reykjavik
-Meet Banksy
-Road trip across America

13. Since myFanbase is an online magazine about tv shows, we would like to know what your favorite shows are?

Ones seen most recently that I loved: "Mr. Robot", "Transparent", "Fargo", and am most definitely on the "Game of Thrones" bandwagon.

Thank you so much for making time for us, Eve, we wish you all the best!
