Exclusive interview with Eris Baker

January 23, 2017 | The young actress Eris Baker is part of NBC's new drama hit show "This Is Us". Since fall 2016 Eris has been playing the role of Tess Pearson and in our interview she talks about her experiences on set.

Thank you for making time for this interview Eris. The fans in Germany would love to read about you and "This Is Us". Tell us a little bit about you. What did you do before being cast for "This Is Us" and how did you prepare for the role of Tess Pearson? Have you been an actress before? What are your hobbies?

Hi myFanbase! I'm Eris and I'm 11 years old. I am in the 6th grade and I still attend regular school here in Los Angeles, CA. I love school and I also enjoy running track, designing clothes, being apart of ASB- associated student body (also like student government). I still enjoy all of this while filming "This Is Us". I also really enjoy writing.

How much time does filming for "This Is Us" take?

Filming time varies for each of the actors. An episode takes about 10 days to film. But depending on the scene and the actors in the scenes, the time filming can vary.

In the show Tess played the role of Snow White in one episode . Do you think Tess would like to become an actress one day? Did you dream of standing in front of the camera since you were little?

I loved that episode! I had a lot of fun filming that one. Thats a great question! I know that Tess really enjoys soccer! I also know that the show was recently picked up for seasons 2 and 3. I think everyone will get to learn a little more about Tess and Annie in future episodes.

How do you like your co-stars? In the TV-show you are a big happy family. Do you spend time together in your free time as well?

I am really blessed. I get a chance to meet and work with some really amazing people- honestly, the cast and crew couldn't be any cooler. Everyone from the directors of the show, the cast, wardrobe, hair and makeup, production assistants, the filming crew, EVERYONE!! I really enjoy going on set. It doesn't feel like work at all.

In the story there is more than one timeline. Is it funny to see various actors playing your uncle, aunt, father and grandfather in the show?

Yes!! It's hilarious! We joke about that often! I mean Lonnie Chavis is technically my dad and is younger than me!! It's so funny!

Who is the funniest person behind the scenes?

Wow! That's a great question. It's hard to say! Everyone has such a great sense of humor. I work really closely with Faithe Herman- my little sister on the show. Her and I are always doing pranks and being silly together. She's actually very funny!!

Not only in "This Is Us" you're a big sister, in real life you have younger sisters, too. Do you enjoy being the oldest one? Can your sisters visit you on set?

I love my sisters!! I love having sisters!! Being the oldest sister is a big responsibility though. I am always being looked at as the example and I never want to let my little sisters down. They have not visited me on set yet but every Tuesday evening we all gather in our living room with snacks and we watch the show together. I think they are my biggest fans. They tell people that I am on a show all the time. . . . random people . . . they're proud of me and I want to continue to make them proud.

"This Is Us" is being shot in L.A.. Do you have to travel there for your scenes or do you and your family live in the city?

I am from Los Angeles! I'm thankful to not have to travel too far to get to work.

What one thing would people not know about "This Is Us"?

One thing that is so cool to me, is that the show is based off of 3 people who are all born on the same day, ironically, in my family, there are also 3 people that are all born on the same day. My mommy, my 3 year old sister, and my 1 year old sister all share the same birthday!! Crazy, right???

Do you have other projects planned for the future?

I'm not sure what the future holds, but I do know that I am really excited about it! I am focused on wrapping season 1 of "This is Us" and finishing up my school year. I also am working to start my own fashion line. I can't wait to share that with the world! I keep my fans up to date with all my projects via instagram. Since myFanbase is an online magazine mostly about TV series, we would love to know what your favorite shows are?

My favorite show right now is definitely "This is Us"!! My other favorite show is "KC Undercover". I am a Zendaya fan and I love her work. I really enjoy cooking shows and oh. . . I almost forgot. . . "Once Upon a Time"!! That's my other favorite!
